My first City Seminary class was apologetics because I wanted to understand how to more effectively witness and defend the Christian faith. That became a starting point from which I developed a more comprehensive Biblical worldview after studying systematic theology, ethics, homiletics, eschatology, etc. I am grateful for my time spent at City Seminary as I feel it has prepared me for a future ministry, perhaps as a business missionary in Ukraine, my birthplace, as God calls. The preparation I received at City was a foundation for me to build upon, by the grace of God and for His glory. Thank you for your support and service!
It has been my great pleasure and blessing to be a student at City Seminary. The courses are thoughtfully organized, helping students see the big picture of pastoral ministry while integrating every discipline of the faith. Because all of the instructors are pastors, their teaching combines sound theology with practical application for service in the Church. I am also thankful for the fellowship of fellow students, the Seminary's commitment to affordable education through generous scholarships, and its philosophy that no student should graduate in debt. I would highly recommend City Seminary to anyone seeking to grow in ministry, teaching, preaching, and service to Christ's Church.
I was called to the ministry later in life, and attending a traditional seminary would have required leaving my job, my home church, and uprooting my family—an impossible prospect. City Seminary was designed for someone like me. With evening and Saturday classes, I was able to continue working, remain active in my church, and pursue theological training without taking on student debt. The instruction was rigorous, personal, and led by experienced pastors who were deeply committed to Scripture and preparing men for ministry. When I graduated in 2010, I had received a solid foundation for pastoral ministry. Shortly afterward, I was ordained to the gospel ministry and began serving a congregation in Lodi. This would not have been possible without City Seminary.
It became clear to me early in ministry that a pastor needs real answers grounded in God's Word. City Seminary equipped me with the theological depth and practical training needed to preach, teach, and faithfully shepherd God's people. That confidence comes from the Seminary's unwavering commitment to the inerrant and infallible Word of God and its mission to prepare faithful men for ministry. I graduated in 2011 with an Associate in Theological Studies, and I remain deeply grateful for City Seminary's role in preparing me for pastoral ministry.
When I was called to pastoral ministry, I knew I needed to be trained and equipped to serve Christ's Church faithfully. City Seminary provided exactly what I was looking for, with evening and weekend classes that fit my schedule and instruction from experienced, humble pastors. The rigorous training—especially in Greek and Hebrew—has been invaluable in sermon preparation and ministry. After eight years of commuting to complete my studies, I graduated with a Divinity degree in 2011. I wholeheartedly encourage anyone called to pastoral ministry, or seeking a solid Christian education, to consider City Seminary.
