Chaplaincy Program

As an affiliate institution of Clinical Pastoral Education International, this accredited program is designed for those preparing for bi-vocational pastoral ministry, as well as those seeking to enter into full- time chaplaincy. As you might expect, our program is Christian, although any prospective student choosing our CPEI-affiliated courses may apply.
There are four Units of instruction, each lasting 12 weeks. Class size is intentionally limited to a maximum of nine students to assure personal instruction and growth. Each Unit consists of 12 weekly lectures lasting 3-4 hours, and written course work performed out of class. In addition, there is field work which will be explained more thoroughly when you are directed to the CPEI enrollment site.
Chaplaincy is a career choice, and preparation involves commitment, and work. It should not be entered into lightly. While we will be by your side throughout your one year of classes and preparation, your success will depend upon commitment.

Clinical Pastoral Education International’s accredited program has selected City Seminary of Sacramento as an online training site.  While the CPE curriculum is largely secular, City Seminary is expressly Christian. Our primary goal is to help Christian chaplaincy candidates prepare for the government and corporate workplace rules they will encounter (VA, hospice, hospitals, law enforcement, etc.). And yes, it is possible to navigate those waters without compromising your faith or calling.
